Paving the way for a smoother ride

Cyclists will soon be able to enjoy a smoother, more comfortable ride all the way along the 25 kilometre Peninsula Link Trail, with upgrades to begin on the shared use path through the Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve, Member for Carrum Donna Bauer announced today. Click here to read more.

2014 IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Melbourne - changed traffic conditions

For the third year running, triathletes from all over the world will return to Melbourne in March to compete in the IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Melbourne – the most popular IRONMAN event outside of the World Championships in Hawaii.

The Course

Swim 3.8 km

Frankston Foreshore, Port Phillip Bay

Ride 180 km

Frankston to Ringwood and return using southbound carriageway on EastLink (2 laps)

Run 42.2 km

Frankston to St Kilda following the coast of Port Phillip Bay

For the safety of all, temporary changed traffic conditions will apply over the event period.

EastLink's southbound carriageway forms the majority of the bike course for the IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Melbourne. Therefore EastLink's southbound (outbound) carriageway (including the Mullum Mullum tunnel) will be closed on Sunday 23 March from 4:30am until 7pm.

Please note that EastLink’s northbound (citybound) carriageway will remain open throughout the day.

Peninsula Link easing congestion one year on

Minister and Member for Nepean Martin Dixon today announced that traffic volumes collected on Peninsula Link during its first 12 months demonstrate that Victorians love using the state's newest freeway.

Mr Dixon said that approximately 20 million vehicle trips have been made on Peninsula Link since it opened last year. Click here to find out more.

Street light repairs, Bungower Road on ramp, southbound

The maintenance team will be carrying out repairs to street lights alongside the Bungower Road on ramp, southbound, between 8pm and 5am. These works will require the southbound Bungower Road on ramp to be closed for approximately 1.5 hours between 8pm and 5am. Motorists are advised to use the Moorooduc Highway to access the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Moorooduc.

These works will require the northbound Bungower Road on ramp to be closed for approximately 1.5 hours between 8pm and 5am. Motorists are advised to use the Moorooduc Highway, Sages Road, to Frankston-Flinders Road.

Motorists are advised to use Sages Road, to Moorooduc Road and Bungower Road for the on ramp southbound.

These works will require the northbound Frankston-Flinders Road on ramp to be closed for approximately 1.5 hours between 8pm and 5am. Motorists are advised to use Baxter-Tooradin Road to Fultons Road to Golf Links Road for the on ramp northbound.

The maintenance team will be carrying out repairs to street lights alongside Mornington-Tyabb Road and Bungower Road between 8pm and 5am. These works will require the Mornington-Tyabb Road entry and exit ramps and all Bungower Road ramps to be closed for approximately one hour between 8pm and 5am. Motorists are advised to use alternate exit and entry points at Frankston-Flinders Road.

The maintenance team will be carrying out repairs to street lights alongside Skye Road and Frankston Flinders Road between 8pm and 5 am. These works will require the Skye Road entry ramp and all Frankston-Flinders ramps to be closed for approximately one hour between 8pm and 5am. Motorists are advised to use alternate exit and entry points at Cranbourne-Frankston Road and Golf Links Road.

$250,000 Southern Way McClelland Commission announced

Artist Gregor Kregar has been awarded the $250,000 2015 Southern Way McClelland Commission, for his monumental work, Reflective Lullaby, which will be installed at the end of April 2015.

This new sculpture will be installed along the Peninsula Link freeway in Melbourne’s South East as part of a unique commitment to public art. It will replace Phil Price’s sculpture Tree of Life that is located on the Cranbourne road site, on the Langwarrin exit ramp close to McClelland Sculpture Park+Gallery and the Mornington Peninsula.
